Apple's new plan will reach out to the medical technology field
According to reports, Apple announced on the 9th a new plan to collect information from interested iPhone users to help researchers deal with some of the world's most serious diseases. According to Agence France-Presse, the program will use data from the Medical Tracking Application (App) to help study asthma, breast cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and Parkinson's disease on a voluntary basis. Apple CEO Tim Cook said the plan aims to "improve medical research by collecting real-time data from millions of users." Apple will work with large medical research centers to collect data through the app developed for the new platform ResearchKit. The program is expected to accelerate the collection and analysis of data by using the iPhone to monitor user activity, blood glucose levels and other medical information . According to Reuters, ResearchKit also allows researchers to use the accelerometer, microphone, gyroscope and GPS sensor on the iPhone to gain insight into the patient's pace, movement disorders, health, speech and memory.
