In September 2016, the Mawei District Prosecutor's Office issued a procuratorial advice to relevant administrative law enforcement agencies in the Free Trade Area regarding problems found in the prevention investigations, and requested to strengthen the supervision of illegal acts of imported food and eliminate hidden dangers in time. After receiving the inspection suggestions, the food safety supervision department of the Free Trade Zone voluntarily requested the procuratorate to jointly investigate and collect evidence, rectify the illegal acts of imported foods, and launch the rectification and innovation measures of “inappropriate and differentiated handling of food labelsâ€, which is pre-defined for Fuzhou Area in the Free Trade Zone. Labeled food labelling is illegal and differentiated. Those who are of a general nature are mainly ordered to make corrections; if they are of major defects, they are placed on record and dealt with in a timely manner, and the specific circumstances in which food labeling violations can be ordered to correct and should be handled administratively are clarified. This measure was identified as the ninth phase of innovation by the Fujian Free Trade Zone and the Department of Commerce of Fujian Province. Knowing the strength behind the paper's procuratorial advice, the Mawei District Procuratorate will send a police officer to the import food supervision agency to understand the actual situation and ensure the prosecution prior to issuing a prosecution suggestion.
