Sunrise uterus transplantation guidelines provide ethical and legal references for surgery
Release date: 2014-08-21 In the context of the increasing research and application of uterine transplant surgery in many countries around the world, the Japanese Uterine Transplant Research Association announced the guidelines for uterine transplantation on the 17th, providing ethical and legal references for the implementation of uterine transplant surgery in Japanese medical institutions. The guidelines include 10 items, mainly including: the recipient of the uterus transplant must be a woman born with no uterus or a woman who has had to remove the uterus due to cancer treatment; the provider of the uterus may be the female relative of the recipient's mother, including brain death. Waiting for a woman to die; the uterus provider must be out of self-will; prohibiting the sale of the uterus for profit. This guideline will also be submitted to the Japanese Maternal Science and Technology Society for discussion next month. According to Japanese media reports, in 2000 a Saudi woman performed the world's first uterus transplant, but was forced to remove it due to thrombosis more than 3 months after surgery. In 2011, Turkey had completed a uterine transplant operation, and the uterus recipient was successfully pregnant by in vitro fertilization in 2013, but then aborted.
