A pig farmer reads: What are the precautions for the summer fermentation bed?

I am a dry-sweeping pig-raising pig farmer in Jinhua, Zhejiang Province. I have used the Jinbao fermentation bed for more than three years now. During this three-year period, the winter effect is quite satisfactory. Pigs are not easy to deflate and grow fast. However, when summer comes, there will be some minor problems. After the accumulation of experience over the past three years, I have basically dealt with myself freely and can solve the various problems encountered in raising pigs in the summer fermentation bed. First, hot

Heat is the most worrying issue for pigs in the summer fermentation bed and is the most common problem. It is one of the reasons why many customers refuse to use the fermentation bed. When I used the fermentation bed in the first year, I encountered a hot problem. The house is hot and steaming, sometimes the maximum temperature can reach 40 degrees or more, and there is a lot of fog, and the interior of the house can't be seen clearly. The reason is because my shed was transformed from an old shed. There are no sunroof windows, only ordinary windows, and no automatic fan is installed. Just after entering the summer, the pig died of heat on both ends. I quickly opened the skylight window, added a fan, and installed a curtain of water as the instructions on the guideline indicated that the hot issues were solved. No overheating occurred in the next two years.

Second, wet

Although the evaporation effect is strong in the summer, the surface of the fermentation bed is apt to appear wet due to the high humidity of the air, the slow air flow rate, and the inability of moisture to be discharged in time. In the second year of use, this phenomenon has emerged. I have used three methods to solve this problem: 1. Using draught fans for timing ventilation to speed up air flow and enhance evaporation. 2. Diligently tip over and timely neutralize dull mats on the surface. Some of the heat will be released when tipping over. Generally, it is recommended to tip over in the early morning or early evening so as to avoid overheating of the pens caused by other times of overturning. 3. Add a layer of dry litter to the surface for neutralization. In the summer, if it is a newly-produced fermentation bed, care should be taken to prevent dust and reduce the number of overturns.

Third, mosquitoes and flies

Summer is the breeding season for mosquitoes and flies, and fermentation beds cannot be avoided. However, compared to traditional cement floors, the use of fermentation beds for the breeding of mosquitoes is relatively rare. In the past few years, there have been many fly larvae on the surface of the fermentation bed in summer, especially where there is regular defecation. In the first year, I tried my best to prevent (looks uncomfortable) and used a drug called fly maggot, and soon the fly maggots in the litter were not available. But soon afterwards, a small fly maggot grew. Gradually, I was accustomed to it. Pigs are used to it. I no longer care about the breeding of fly maggots because it does not affect the growth of pigs and the health of pigs. When the weather cools, it will not be natural in the late autumn. .

In summer, the pigs in the fermentation bed may encounter other problems, such as disinfection and epidemic prevention.
